Ted... Not worth the hype!

Tonight I got a stack of DVD off a friend of mine... So with a whole load of new movies I sat down to watch some...

First on the list was Ted,

I remember seeing this film coming out, from the makers of Family Guy aka Seth MacFarlane and I through this could be fun, And a year later I can tell you!

From the looks of all the trailers it looked funny and sharp. When I saw clips of it it looked even better BUT I just finished it and boy was it a let down, The acting was crap the animation sucked and the story was something outa a 7 year old's screen play. I love the idea of it but as a full movie it just drags on to an ending you can see a mile off...

Here is the girlfriend - there going to spit only to get back together again.

Here is the bad guy - his going to do something bad

Here is the funny gay joke - not funny gay joke

Im sorry but this was just a live action film of a family guy episode and it just does not work.

Maybe this is not meant for me as I do like a movie that makes you think but even in my stoned days this was not funny... The pointless cameo with Flash Gordian is just boring and they keep bring him back.

Mila Kunis who is not a bad actor really sucks in this, shes played down and I am sorry but is far to hot to be with both Mark Wahlberg the person and the character in this movie.

Unless your a heavey pot user or have the mental age of a 12 year old then I would say give this one a miss, This is time you cant get back... just watch the trailer a few more times and let that be that.

I am The Law?

Just saw this posted and it look like it cold be good

Now two things come to mind.

1. This looks alot like The Raid.
2. Dredd does not take off his helmit.

Now you might think im mad if you did not read the 2000AD comics but Judge Dredd never EVER took off his helmet unlike in the movie with Sylvester Stallone. And unlike that flop this does look good, A little bit to much like batman for my liking but you cant win them all.

This new version is staring Karl Urban in the lead roll, Some of you might know him for The Lord of the Rings or even the very badly done Doom. I always remember him from The Bourne Supremacy as I always liked that roll.

Someone that court my eye was that Lena Headey looks to be the heel(bad guy) in the movie, I am looking forward to seeing her grow out of the part most people know her from as the evil Cersei Lannister from the TV version of Game of Thrones

Anyways look out for it around September 2012

Sucker Punch (A Year On)

Hidden Symbolism

Sucker Punch is one hell of a movie. Its screen play and director Zack Snyder made an great looking film with some amazing set pieces that lived up to the trailer for this film. That being said if you look beyond the the action and titillation you end up with a very deep film. Now if you have not watched it I would say to check it out, No really! Buy it, Rent it, just watch it!

Me and Fluff saw it at the iMax in London last year and are still talking about it now. This film could be used as a case study with with its use of effect and composition to all of the hints and double meanings placed with-in its frames. Most will just come out of it with the images of girls in hot outfits, or an over whelming idea of a computer games cut scenes action with a light weight story. This is a simplistic view in my opinion.

Freedom or detachment

Now I love films to have many layers as I think about everything in a film, not only what's in the film but what they chose to keep out. What mind set the director is in or what hidden meaning are placed within the movie. I do feel that many people just did not understand what was told with this story. Its not just empty action and CGI, this film has depth and meaning for those who wish to look.

Sucker Punch really can take you as deep as the rabbit hole goes... There are many articles online that can take you throught the looking glass but I am not going to take you there with this blog, Such an article will take me a long time to write. I am not going to push you down that way of thinking, just watch and make up your own mind as both me and Fluff still have many things to say about what I personally think is one amazing mind fucking film.

Sucker Punch in more ways then one!

Total Recall?

I did hear about this a few months back but only just saw the trailer for the 2012 relise of "Total Recall"

Now I loved the last film, It was one of the 1st really mind bending movies that I watched as a kid. Yes its a straight up action movie with a hooker with 3 titties but look below the surface and you have a really intriguing sci-fi movie on your hands.

Is everything happening as you see it, or is it the fake memory that his living out? Most dont see that of an Schwarzenegger movie but it does make you re-think the whole film after you find out!

Were going to be finding out soon enough!

Oh and just case you dont know this already.... THEY DONT EVEN GO TO MARS!!!

The Karate Kid that does not learn Karate?

I just finished watching the new remake of one of my fav films from when I was a kid.

The orangel The Karate Kid was one of the films that got me into martial arts when I was young and when I heard that they where going to make it again I could not belive it. There has been so many remakes to old films that have sucked that I could not bear it to happen to a flim that I feel kinda defined me in many ways.

Now I have to say this as I have been bitching about Hollywood remakes for a while now, but THIS IS HOW IT SHOULD BE DONE!

This film shows respect to the earlier ones but was not a scene for scene remake. With short lines and little actions that pay homager to what was a BIG film in my childhood.

I was not going to watch it just under the principle of it but after my brother watched it and told me it was not that bad I kinda changed my mind, then I herd that Jackie Chan was also in the film as Pat Morita's Mr. Miyagi role.

It was a really good film by itself! Even without watching the 1st movie its still good, Jaden Smith really was good and Jackie really hits the part much better that I would have given him credit for.

Anyone whos on the fence about this movie check it out, I was very happen about what they did and in a very silly way I kinda hope they would make the next one as well lol.

One last thing, why did they call it "The Karate Kid" when the kid does not learn Karate?

For the people who done know Karate (meaning Open Hand) comes from Okinawa, Japan and this film is set in China, he is tought Kung-fu by Jackie Chan's character, This is even pointed out IN the film... Just a silly little thing to thing about.

Southern Lights Prep

With Southern Lights coming up A little song comes to my head

If you have not seen "Into The Wild" then WATCH IT! RENT IT! do what ever you can cos its such a great film, people that are a little sick of the normal 9-5 will be inspired but this movie.

Showing that conformaty is not the only why to really be.

I cant wait for this weekend, It starts tomorrow for me but will go on till Monday

Whos Watching The WatchMen?

Just finished one of my fav movies... Long and deep.

A comic book film that not afraid to just be balls out!

Sucker for a good movie

Just saw this on The Escapist and I wanted to show it to my readers

Looks like fun don't you think

Paul, The Movie

After my dads party. Fluff and I went to Brixton's Ritzy to see Paul.

Its funny if you like cult films... Its funny if you like Brit comedy's and its funny if you just love to laugh. If you have seen Hot Fuzz or Shaun of the Dead then you are already wanting to see this... If you don't then you really don't know what your missing. I would not say that its better then the other 2 BUT its def part of the same family

Black Swan.... And Its Good!

For the last few weeks Fluff has been going on about this new ballet movie. being a dancer herself, I have had to watch nearly ever dance flick out there and I know this is no shock to anyone... But there ALL BAD!

Everything from "Save The Last Dance" to "Centre Stage", all shit... Crappy acting by dancers or shitting dancing by actors, Nothing ever changes.

But then Black swan comes out, Directed by Darren Aronofsky, best know for The Wrestler and Requiem for a Dream, Brings a very dark and almost truthful look into the mind of a top class ballet star, But to find her dark swan side, ends up going mental in the search for perfection.

An amazing movie that I say all should watch at lest once if not for the best acting Natalie Portman has ever done, but for the complete mind fuck that Nina(Natalie Portman's Character) goes through.

Let The Wrong One In!

Today Fluff and I watched a movie, one that has been out and on our hard drive for a while but today was the day.

Let The Right One In is a Swedish 2004 vampire fiction novel by Swedish writer John Ajvide Lindqvist. In 2008 it was made into a Film and I might add a dam good one. Set in Stockholm in the 1980s and about a 12 year old boy and a vampire child of the same age (much older physical age) I really would say watch it.

Trouble is Just now I saw an add for "Let Me In" an Americanized version of this movie and dam it just missed the point, as what is always done with things from the U.S.

Guys LEARN HOW TO READ SUB TITLES!!

G.I. Joe The Rise Of Cobra

G.I. Joe The Rise Of Cobra.... BAD MOVIE!!!!

If you have kids, they will love it, but what ever you do.... don't watch it as an adult!

You have to be Kidding me

This is pure Fanboy stuff but I have just seen something that will make alot of gamers really happy... and then really sad

Escape From City 17 is the 2nd Canadian short film set in the Half-Life universe. Made by the The Purchase Brothers, I'm hoping to see it as soon as I find out more.

Names in Lights

Last night we went to the film premier of a friend of mine, it was her producer debue and a shot film called eating scarlet, There was a great turn out and we went out for some food afterwards.

Karen has been working her arss off for months to get the movie ready before she heads off to the U.S, I'm sure this film will pop up around the arty crow so keep your eyes open as I is a good one

Family Guy Presents: Something Something Something Dark Side

I just finished watching Family Guy Presents: Something Something Something Dark Side and It was not that bad, bring the Family Guy team to do a cover of something like Starwars should not work but they did a very good job.

I have seen the 1st one (Family Guy presents Blue Harvest) and I have to say I think that one was better. Maybe it was just that it was new and the hope might have been a little to high to cover.

The Empire Strikes Back Was my farvor of the StarWars movies being that its dark and leave off with so much to come (when a cliff hanger was a good thing).

I really do hope they make a 3rd as for many- Return of the Jedi is the best of all 6. I could even see them doing the prequel trilogy as well (just to take the piss out of them).

Dennis Hopper (17 May 1936 – 29 May 2010)

Dennis Hopper

One of the stars of possibly the biggest biker movie of all time Easy Rider passed away today

I loved him being a heel as I always remember him from films like Speed and That shitty Super Mario Bros movie in 93. Him being the best part of it!

more films like

Apocalypse Now (1979), Boiling Point (1993),True Romance (1993),

Waterworld (1995) just to name a few and in a total of over 100 movies.

This is one of the actors that I liked and could play someone you could believe in...

Rest In Peace

American The Bill Hicks Story

Its not like me to say I wanna see a flim before it comes out but This one.... I wanna see.

If you dont know who this is then you need to educate yourself! Then come back to me.

This guy puts a smile on your face and a through in your mind. If he did not pass away I think that he would be the president by now.

R.I.P Bill and as you say "It's an insane world, but I'm proud to be part of it."

New Terry Pratchett Movie!!!

Sky1 is doing another Terry Pratchett movie "Going Postal" is set to be on our screen some time in the near future.

If you have see the last 2 then im sure your going to love this one, if not then get them. Hogfather (2006) and The Colour of Magic (2008) are both great and very funny.

Watch them if you get a shot or just read the books if your not to lazy

Movie of the night

The Boat that Rocked is well... Good, Really good

This might come as a shock to some people who know i am really hating on film lately, but this brit film about a pirate radio show set in the 60s with the sex drugs and rock and roll. What got both me and fluff was the feeling...think Almost Famous but English and funny.

I would say to anyone wanting a feel good film but wanna keep it on this side of the pond (and with better acting) watch it and just feel the happy swinging vibe of the hip 60s

Tuesday and Spits

Well today is Tuesday and I'm getting ready to my way to Liverpool... Street that is, My spinners club (Poi Staff etc) and I get a call from an old friend. He wants to join us tonight and im all cool with that. I like having friends to go with but then most weeks I'm on my Jacks.

So we hook up outside the tube and head down there together, Its nice to chech up as I've not really chated to him in a while. We both used to skate together and he was the one that got me into doing staff in the 1st place, years later its nice to know we can still just hung out.

Learning a few new moves and the moonwalk(some guy was doing a workshop on it) I felt really happy and ended up not going to the pub but going right home to my little fluff... A movie night awaited.

So Dark-man was skipped for a nice night with the Watchmen. I know this got paned by a lot of people but blue Willy's a side I liked it, something different and dark, Something that I would happily watch again.
