FreeLoader Pico

With PLAY coming up I have been getting myself ready for this festival. One trouble I have with festival is that you can never take enough power for all your toys... This is where FreeLoader comes in.

FreeLoader is a small Solar powered battery that you can charge up your tech with. 

There are 3 models that I know of ranging from aroun £15-£70

1. FREELOADER PICO £15

2. FREELOADER Classic £35-40

3. FREELOADER PRO £70

Now The one I would like is the Pro modle as you can charge up d-SLR battery's in that one as well as many other items, Trouble is I dont have that much money. A friend had a Classic when they 1st came out but once again, no money.

At last years Southern Lights festival my iPhones battery lasted nearly the whole event but died on the way home, All weekend I turned off my phone while I was sleeping and I could not film as much as I would have liked. I use my phone for alot more then just calling so this year I got myself a FreeLoader PICO.

From 10 hours of sunshine you get a full battery and can charge your ipod for 14houers, your smart phone 35hours and I am sure I can get a full charge on the kindle(Not that you need it for that as it lasts a month by itself)

I will get back to you with the full review after I have tested it more (This weekend) but so far it looks to be working well

WORD OF WARNING!

For some reason this edition did not come with an apple cable so for some devices you will need your own usb cable... Gel cases are going for around £3 and I would say get one if only for the belt hook that does not come with the Pico itself

Virtual Reality Contact Lenses!!

I think I might have just had a geek gazem...

I was just watching a show on BBC New (Click) and they had a story about Virtual reality contact lenses. Giving you a HUD (Heads Up Display) so you can over lay information without changing the focus of your eyes AKA You see the info AND what ever it is that your doing at the same time.

Now this is already happening right now, but has not yet come into public use, as some more testing is needed (or something else is stopping it for now).

This could be a real game changer for many things from seeing a spelling error for someone with dexlia to showing the location of your mobile phone when lost, OR STOLEN!, It could overlay the weather when you look up to the sky or direct you to your local tub or pub. Talking of pubs - This device could show you the way home after one to many!

We really are living in an amazing time for tech heads!

Wow What A Week!

ok this is going to be a few blogs posted about a few different days... so you will have to bear with me, 

In the last week I have had both my Mum and Dads birthday, Hacked my Kindle to use my own screen savers(Don't worry it is open-source babe!) Shooting a video for Spits, Meeting Mick Foley with my Dad, Seeing some of my old work mates from my hairdressing days AND gone out to a cheesy club night with the Girls where I shot the event.

WOW that alot of things!

Today I was sent something from a friend of mine... And yes, She is a lady friend of mine before you start moaning at me...

Its funny what you find out your travels...

I popped out the other week and saw a massive pain of glass (about .5m x 1.5m) and had an idea.

This week I used the glass pain to get some really interesting shots of a candle from a birds eye view, But I also used a fashion mag and my iPhone.

I placed the glass across 2 chairs and sprayed the glass with water, Placing my camera on a tripod on top of the glass and with a mix of skill, tech and luck I am very happy with some of the images I got.

Now some are edited and some are as shot with the camera... Lets see if you can guess what ones are witch!

SOPA!

The Turing test?

Tonight I am watching a doc on Alan Turing.

For the people that don.t know who he is do me a faver - Look at your computer screen, your mobile phone, your TV and your lights above your head.

Now thanks Alan Turing for all of it!

This is the man that came up with the idea of the modern computer, all computers in fact.

The idea of zeros and ones comes from this man, Cracked the Enigma machine code as well as being one of the smartest people at Bletchley Park During world war 2

Any ways back to the point as I could go on about him for a long time as he is a GOD to anyone who is remotely into tech or computers... Now the Turing Test, Have a look at this image...

The idea of this test is to have an AI so good that it can fool a judge to thinking that the computer is a human. Now I love this idea and the fact he was coming out with this idea before modern computers were even invented. Now this is still being tried today and with the new iPhone coming out (with Siri) I think we are slowly getting to the point of solving the Turing Test.

Guys were living it the biggest jump in technolorg. Lets help it along and lets keep this going without the fears or worry's from movie's and ignorer people.

6 Days And counting

This weeks I am mostly going to be blogging about my new toy... Sorry other readers but right now I am kinda one track minded.

The last few days I have been looking up everything about the Canon 7D all over again, Tip tricks reviews, And I mean everything!

While I have been looking around I have kinda hit a brick wall, And that is Video!
Now this camera does everything I could need for Video, But I really have no idea how to shoot it.

How does shutter speed effect filming? What does the frame rates really do? How much of my photography skill going to carry over into shooting Videos?

I am sure that this will come with time and in a few years I will be as good at filming as I am with stills now but it does feel kinda daunting

Steve Jobs RIP

Today we feel the loss of one of the greatest men in the would of tech.

Steve Jobs passed away today surrounded by his family after a long team illness that has seen him taken to the side from Apples main front man.

No matter how you feel about Apple, You have to give this man the respect he deserve. This is one of the men that have fought Microsoft and won, He has giving us a view computers dont have to be ugyl, That A phone can do alot more then just send texts.

iPad and Photography

While I was away to southern lights, I had a little chat with a fellow photographer. He had his iPad2 with him and I really got to see how a Photographer would use such a tool, not only to view the images but to show Clients and do some basic editing.

But to add even more value to is you can use it as back up storage for your camera within seconds of taking them. Plus if you have used an iPad yet, you will know just how easy it is to use one, any ones grandmother could use this(You try holding a laptop in one hand and scroll over to many different pics with the other) Clients will love it and it makes you look great and up market.

Michael Jackson The "EXPENSIVE" Experience

I just saw this advert on the telly... Its for the new "Michael Jackson The Experience" game.

This game is coming out on all the consoles (Xbox, Wii and PS3)

As I watched, I saw the people singing into a microphones £20.00 (sold separately), then comes the dancing bit and they have to stop and pick up the Move controllers £33.00 & £22.90/ per player (sold separately), and to even use Move you need the Playstation Eye £24.97 (sold separately)

So to play this game you need to BUY the game, BUY the mic, BUY the eye and BUY the Controllers...

All I'm saying is thank fuck I got kinect and I dont need any of that shit, no matter how many people are playing!

No controllers, no mics and no buttons for the party people to learn

Apples and Pears

Well I got the bad news today, Apple did not want me are part of there team.

Frist I was sad, then deprest as I had put so much into getting a job there.

I write a poem about it as well when I was on the bus

But then Fluff and many others said there kind words and it reminded me that I had a life before apple and I still have one now, So what if they dont want me, I can always try again in 6 months or just find somewhere else to work. After all I want to be a pro photographer so anything I do is just to pay the bill, Right!

The Catminator

Last night I downloaded a new app for the Iphone4 called iMovie...

and this is what I ended up with this.

iMovie come on most macs and lets you play edit and make your own movies, On this iPhone it takes video and images and lets you make a timeline to make your own slideshows and short films.

Given you themes and easy to make clips, And even add your own music from your iphone!

I would really recormend this to anyone with an Iphone4 and Ipad2 (I think it runs as well on Itouch G4 but check just in case)

Mummy's Birthday

With dads done you know mum's is on the way.... its really sweet as I know how close my folks are that I think its even sweeter that there birthdays are only 5days apart as well.

As today was a weekend mum wanted to put on a party for the family. with loads of food and some Wii play it was a really good time, shame I had to leave early as I could have stayed alot longer then I could.

Birthday Girl

With everything that been happening of late its really nice to spend loads of time together. With the Wii that we got mum for Christmas got some of its gears working tonight, With the to new toys (Wii Fit & Just Dance) got everyone's blood pumping.

Can I ask you Something?

I have just spent the last 30mins wrighting an email about the Panorama show last week about Addicted to Games (LINK)

I've been a gamer for over 20years of my life and seeing as I'm only 26 thats proble the longest hobbe I have had apart from walking and making trouble, I'm just posting it on the blog to show it to some other people and ask one simple thing.

Do you think this show is one sided?

Please leave a comment as coming from a gamers side of thinking I just wanted to see what other people think... Even if you don't play any games at all or only a little when you were a kid or even any full time gamers... I would love to hear what you think of this show.

A New Toy Tomorrow

Tomorrow A new toy comes out, something I have wanted since E3 last year and that is Kinect!

Its been out in the U.S since the 4th and I have been seeing things coming out for it since then. Kinect lets you interact with the Xbox 360 without the need to touch a game controller. Using natural gestures and spoken commands you can both play games and using the dash-bord.

Now what really sucks is that I'm going to have to wait till just after my birthday(next month) to get hold of it. I cant wait as I'm also getting the new console in sexy black, whisper quit and a 250GB hard drive.

Cut the Rope

Today I got a little App called "Cut the Rope" and it kicks ass!

Its only 0.59p and for that you get 4 levels with 25 stages in each.

The goal.... Feed a cute green monster with candy - With a great art style and simple game play that gets harder as you go, you will find this so hard to put down.

BYE THIS GAME!, you will not be disappointed.

They need a Blogger App!

Why don't they have an App yet? I don't really know, but putting up photos and writing your blog on your phone could be the start of something new and really cool. Typing on the Iphone is a lot more easier then you would think and if you can type fast you get used to it really quickly.

After a year of waiting, mixed reactions, duble thinking holidays and new designs coming out skinny boy got his Iphone 4g today and is fucking loving it.

Been putting new apps, learning the phone and getting ringing tones for the little baby. Now I just need to add some music to it and some video's as well, sorted

New featchers are FaceTime (this is like 3's and o2's video calling but linking via your WiFi as well) with a camera on the front and a 5mp with an LED flash on the back.

New and updated Display with 4x the pixel to the 3Gs.

Multitasking for swaping on the fly to diferent apps/programs

HD (Full 720p) Video and with iMovie app you can make your own movies onn the fly
