My Baby is Getting An UPDATE!

Today I was just scrolling over canonrumors.com and after drooling over the Canon EOS 1D-X (Really sexy camera thats way outa my league)

I came across something that made me soooo happy I almost needed to change my pants. My dear old 7D is going to be getting a Firmware update!

You can check out the full details on this LINK but ill give you my high lights.

  • IMPROVED RAW MAXIMUM BURST : from 15 to 26 RAW
  • IMAGE RATING CAPABILITIES = Adding rating to images to help with workflow later
  • MANUAL ADJUSTMENT FOR AUDIO RECORDING LEVELS = A big deal for videographers
  • FASTER SCROLLING OF MAGNIFIED IMAGES = Great for checking focus
These are the onces that made me smile and happy, there are more but you can read the full review at canonrumors.com on this LINK.

Getting an update on my iPhone a while back completely changed my phone. It was like having a whole new toy with some many more tricks up its sleeve that I did not even think of getting the iPhone 4s. Now this does not look to be as big of a change then with the Apple OS but with all these little twecks I really am looking forward to updating my baby as soon as it comes out!

The Canon 70-200mm F2.8 USM IS Markii... Mini Review

WARNING, PHOTOGRAPHY BLOG!

As some of you know last weekend I went to a wedding in Sweden, When I herd about this i through it was the perfect reason to rent myself a lens for the 1st time. Since I now have a canon I knew the lens I would "borrow" for a weekend being only one real chose,  Canons dirty White Canon!

A good looker as well!
The Canon 70-200mm F2.8 USM IS Mark ii... This lens is going for around £2,000.00 (but you can get it for around £1,800 at a push) And most of you would ask,

"WHY WOULD YOU PAY £2K FOR A BIT OF GLASS?"

If you don't know I am sure this blog will not tell you but I do like to try the impossible and with this lens you can make the impossible - possible.

Gives 4 stops of IS
Now this is not a full review but I can say this much... I am in love <3! They way its made, the way it shoots and even the way it looks, everything about this glass tells you that its worth ever single penny you spend to own it. This it at the TOP of my VIP warning list (donations welcome btw) The bokeh is creamy enough to spread all over a nice hot crumpet. Nom nom nom! Its sharp enough to shave with and I have never seen so many people move out of my shot then I did with this lens on my camera!

2.8 All The Way Baby!
Now I used this all weekend and it was amazing, fast and quick, the colours where perfect and the range of 70-200 on a crop body like my 7D give it a range more like 112-320mm. This is a great lens for everything you can think of when you need a little more reach then the normal lens gives you. Now here is a test shot from the lens I took in the park before I (HAD) to give it back.

Logitech Wireless Solar Keyboard K750

Just found something that some of my readers will like the looks of....

Any of you guys using a wired keyboard but would love to have it free of something else to get in the way or have a BlueTooth/USE Wireless keyboard but hate going though so many batterys.

Then you might wanna have a look at this

Logitech K750 for Mac/PC Wireless Solar Keyboard

This is now on my raider as I really hate having a wired bored that gets in the way when im editing images using the table but at the same time I know as I work from a computer all the time I would just KILL battery.
Plus unlike alot of bored these days, IT HAS A NUMBER PAD!!

I already go through enough with Speedlights, Poi, Staff, Xbox controllers, guitars, mic's etc) So having something that you get the best of both worlds and (from what I have read) This works from not only normal sun light but from standed home lighting and lamps. One charge can last 3 months on a single charge (That sounds good to me)

Anyways the cheapest I have seen it is at Pixmania for £49.90 (LINK)

Friends and Tech

I love it when a friend gets some new teck... You see them smile and full in love with every new thing that that phone or gadget does. I know that when I am in that place I look just the same.

I was writing something today and Fluff was helping me, She said in this letter that "The Iphone4 has never left my hand since I got it".... Then I looked what was in my hands

Yep, you got it!

Old & New

I'm one of them people that loves buying new things, Toys no one has and gadgets that everyone goes crazy over. But at the same time, I love old things. Clocks with moving parts - old tech that you can almost see working.

This goes over into places as well, seeing an old farm house mix in with new age building's. watching life bend its way around what humans have put there.

At the farm I have got to see this alot, old things that have been in the family for god knows how many years... Items not wroth much in money now but where used many years ago and most likely cost a shit load of money back then. I love fixing old things, seeing somthing come to life years after its broken down.

New Toys came today

As my reg readers will know, I was at a shoot a while back helping a friend of mine. A shoot down in the tunnels under Waterloo.

At that shoot my friend used a normal speed-light with a soft box, on a light stand.
After seeing the results I wanted to get that same set up. Soon after I got the soft box but I did not have the fitting to use the light-stand, so I used a Tripod at my last 2 shoots. In both the extra leg#s got in the way of the photos and we a pain to move and hand a limited hight.

Today the bracket came, with the umbrella (33" White) as it was only a few extra pound and the 1st test shot I took with the full set up... I loved! the bolly does a lot more then I through it would.

With the light bouncing on the umbrella and then down to the subject, Its super soft, softer then with the soft box I think (This is in my flat and not always in a normal photo-ing area)

I'm so looking forward to using both the soft box and then umbrella in my next shoot... any takers?

Almost a new Laptop

Today I have been busy re formating the my old little laptop.

I very good friend of mine gave me this laptop about 5 years ago and its lasted me a long time, but since i got my main PC its kinda taken a back seat. Left on the side I only use it for a 2nd screen or to stream music around my home network.

I had to reformat fluffs computer a few days ago so as ive just done her's i through I would do the "little bitch". Before I could bearly run a web page, now its running fast and ive even opend photoshop on her(not running fully but still). I'm still going to have to buy a new lappy to use for my photo work on the go, but this is nice to have for now.

Only trouble is that my camera bag is made for a 15inch and this is a 17.... oh well, I'll just have to get a new bag lol

New toy came today

While I was out the other week with Michael for a shoot, I found out that you dont have to have strobs and such to use lights on set... Using a light-stand and his speed-light (SB900) he lit the model (on an over cast day) using one of these bad boys.

Fitting over your existing flash it can be moved and tilted and use all the settings your used to using with your Flash. This gives you the portability of a speed-light but the soft light of a strobe with softbox.

As I have a shoot coming up at the weekend im really looking forward to seeing just what it can do. Also I got my Workhorse lens (18-70mm) back this week so all is go in Skinny land
