HDR Walk About

I was out today as I was smoked outa the flat by down stairs. Who think its a great idea to have a old oil burrle as a BBQ and stock it with wood from a wooden packing grate. So being up so early I went up town... Had a little look around the city to grab some images but did not really grab any great ones, I did happen to get a HDR image.
High dynamic range imaging (HDRI or just HDR) is a set of techniques that allows a greater dynamic range between the lightest and darkest areas of an image than current standard digital imaging techniques or photographic methods.

My 1st since I got my canon 7d and I do like it, It does lack a subject and a little bit of drama but I still like it.

Something for any of my Mindcraft reader

I just been looking through some of the videos done by the very telted guys at freddiew channel on YouTube... Enjoy!

Panting with light

As many of you know I am really into my photography, but some of you might not know what got me into it. Well it was something as simple as light!

I was always loving the DSI style of shooting people but it was always the backgrounds that made it for me, I hate watching raving images without some kind of play with light. I know that alot of photographs dont like to have them but I just think its a waste of a clubs good lighting not to use it!

I kinda knew how to use my camera to get that kinda of feel but I was no where near to mastering it, But soon after I got my 1st Dslr I was starting to use it for what I found out was called Light Panting Photography.

Now I have worked on this for a while but tonight I have been looking it up after hearing about a site that is dedicated to just this... and its called lightpaintingphotography.com. I know I was shocked at the name as well. Anyways I just wanted to give these guys a shout out as there doing some amazing stuff and I will be stelling some of there ideas in up coming shoots/Events!

This is a Youtube vid I found using this style of photography and I really liked it! ENJOY!

WaterDrops (20120123)

Its funny what you find out your travels...

I popped out the other week and saw a massive pain of glass (about .5m x 1.5m) and had an idea.
This week I used the glass pain to get some really interesting shots of a candle from a birds eye view, But I also used a fashion mag and my iPhone.

I placed the glass across 2 chairs and sprayed the glass with water, Placing my camera on a tripod on top of the glass and with a mix of skill, tech and luck I am very happy with some of the images I got.

Now some are edited and some are as shot with the camera... Lets see if you can guess what ones are witch!

LINK to the full set and please leave a comment on the ones you like or what ones you think are edited or fresh from the camera

Happy Birthday LRE - RIP!

Today was the 21st and that is a day in my family that comes with both good and bad memorys

This was my oldest brothers birthday. Lewis was born 15.30 on the 21/1/1980 and was the 1st born of my parents 3 sons. He had cardio dismorthey (a hole in the heart) and was only given a 50% chance he would see his 3rd birthday and would not live till his fifth.

But my brother being the stubbed little shit he would later be know for lived way pasted his 5th and stayed till his 25th just to spite the doctors, Living long enough to look after his 2 little brothers, making sure that they got through care and see the men they became. Having a son of his own little Charlie, who is the spit of him in both looks and attitude, He also stay around long enough to hold his 1st nephew (Connor) before passing a week later.

Now every year, on his birthday my family meet to let a balloon go with a message to him, say a few words and then have a drink in his name.

LRE, Ronny, Lewis, Brother... Love you

Camden Lock By Night (20120119)

The other day I was watching something on the telly. Thinking about it now I cant remember what it was but the long and the short of it... was that I wanted to go up to Camden to take some images. I wanted to do something with the reflections on the water alone the canal.

My aim was to do something in the day and try get some images as the sun was setting. Then again this is me and if you know me - one thing I dont do well is morning's
(evening if the morning is really the afternoon).

I left the house around 16.00 and hit the tube getting there around 17.00 and the sun was already gone but that point only leaving a thin blue line of line in the sky. Lucky or me I had my tripod with me so long ass shutter was no trouble... Well no trouble till all the light went and pushing passed 30secs is hard without a cable release.

Anyways... I am kinda happy with what I got today and I hope that you guys like them as well!

You LIKE me?

Today I hit 100 "Likes" on my Facebook fan page!

I cant believe that I have made it to have 100 fans of my own work! Its shocking to me as I never was very good at anything (Jack of all trades but very much a master of none) that I have this many people behind me and I might as well say it now, not all of them are my friends, some are people I have never met but they have seen my work and and liked it.

I dont wanna blow my own horn here or anything, Al I wish to say is Thank you to everyone that has helped me get here and I hope that I can give you more images that you like over the next 3 years xx

Shelter Me (20120114)

Shelter Me is an event that happens every year, A free event with all the money going to Shelter, a Charity to help home the home-less people and last year raised over £500.00

But (yes I am using the BUT word) is was not such a good night for me, I had a really long day before hand and was talked into going by a friend. A friend that did not turn up to the event so I was there all by myself.

I was looking forward to going and using my new camera but my new flash had not turned up yet so I had to use my old camera (Sony A300). After using my Canon for the last 2 months, Saying that I had to get used to my old set-up was an under statement!

So with the photography not going the way that I liked, friends not showing up and to add even more to the bed vibes... I got a massive headache that took 3 days to go away!

Anyways, My gallerys are live both on the site and DSI so check them out if you wish but they are not my best!

D.I.Y Beauty Dish!!

D.I.Y
Beauty Dish

I made myself a little Beauty Dish from some buits I had around the house... I used a bowl left over from my birthday party, some duck tape and some zip-ties... Now this turned out to be alot smaller then the one on the video below but its only made from a small kids party eating bowl and not a big salad bolw!

Anyways... here are some images of both the dish.

but I will make a bigger one once I have gone down to the pound shop for some bits if I dont go and make a REALLY good on I might hit B&Q to make this one! (Below)

the magic BUT!!

BUT!
A funny word, a word with almost magic powers. A word that can make almost anything happen.

It seems that you can be so hard lined about a subject and never move from that point still something comes into the fre and that word comes along.

Like how someone who will fight for women's right and equality BUT find it ok to watch Victoria's Secrets Fashion show because its different.

Then there is always the "I'm not a raciest... BUT". Why does this word have some much power to just change a person into something else.

Anyways, just something that came into my head tonight.

Black Wednesday!

IT'S NOW MIDNIGHT SO HERE GOES

I have told you guys about SOPA and PIPA before and today some of you might have had some trouble getting onto some sites like Craigslist, Mojang(aka Mine craft) Destructoid, Wikipedia and others, getting a screen like this!

Blacking out logos, blocking there own sites or just not twitting or FBing for 24hours!

Today marks the day that the internet said no to SOPA! Everyone from twitters to gamers, bloggers to massive computer giants like Google come together for fighting the US Govement on both SOPA(Stop Online Piracy Act) and PIPA (Protect IP Act).

From another person that I check has told me that there is another thing we should start worrying about... ICANN, now if you wish to read more about ICANN witch some feel is the real story and SOPA is just a Red Herring, read the blog on this LINK!

Oh and this might become a familiar site for you guys soon if this goes through

Happy surfing!!

Flashie New Toy

I know some of you are bored of hearing about things im going to get and with camera stuff at the top of the list I am sure your going to hate this blog as well....

But as you are still reading my blog after almost a full year of my chatting about Canon this and L lens that I am taking it that I cant put you off.

Ok ok, Tomorrow(or on monday) I will be ordering my new flash for my camera.
As a Strobe (a photography that loves using flash) I plan on getting a few speedlights, but this 1st one I'm getting is the badboy Flash, the others will be smaller and cheaper... but will all be controlled by this one bit of gear!

Canon EX 580ii
This is canons top flash and one of the best flashes in all range's let along just Canon.
(the best on the market is Nikon's SB900/910) I am going to try a litte test when I get it as I might be able to use my old Sony speedlight on it as well, I did do some tests while I had a friends 580 but I was drunk at the time (It was my birthday (",)sue me! )

I just want to say thank you to everyone for helping me get to this point, with all the donations from my birthday and xmas. I would not be getting this so soon without your help.

Thank you once again

New Xbox and PlayStation consoles could be revealed at E3 this year

For my gaming friends out there... You might have herd that we are in a 10 year cycle of this Console generation, and like me you might have through that "Kincet" and "Move" would be the thing to keep this gen alive for another 3/4 years...

Well its strongly rumerd that this year at E3 both Sony and Microsoft will be unveiled there next system. This has got my pissed as I really belived in this 10 cycle happening. I have had almost every manger console starting from the ZX Spectrum +2 (1982) to the Sega Master System and the NES up till now (the seventh generation)

I am used to getting somthing new every 5 years and that is a good thing as tech changes and its great to get that box fresh new console, Finding out all the new cool stuff that could happen on this platform as well as everything else that comes with it.

But this was at time when a new console costs around the £150 mark and the games were between £15/£25... This last gen saw the PS3 Start price at well over £500 and the xbox360 was around the £300 price point. That is the reason I am a little pissed over this coming out now.

Now the Xbox came out in November 2005 and the PS3 a year later so you could say that its been between 6 and 7 years and that should be fine. After all its been longer then 5 years but I just see it as rude to lie to us as we are the people that now pay stupid money for what we love, 100s of pounds and nearly £50 for a game that only lasts us about 4/5hours(See the new COD)

Let It Die... StarWars Live Action?

WOW!

Your not going to believe what I have just read... And its made me feel very sad indeed.

New Details Emerge on Live-ActionStar Wars TV Show

Yes... I know!
WHAT THE FUCK!!

Now I like many people have been a life long Star Wars fan, I loved everything about the frist 3 movies, from the films themselves to the toys, Books and games I mean everything!

Now I remember when the put out about "The Phantom Menace" And my hope were sky high, Everything that could be done with all the computer tech that had come out since 1983. With a funny looking smile on my face I tried to find something about it I liked, being the good little fan and blanked out the bad... The came Attack of the Clones. And it was on that very day that I gave up on George Lucas!

Both MovieBoo and SouthPark have said it and now I belive that the rest of us need to learn, Stop having hope for this IP and just let it die!

Adobe Lightroom 4 Beta

Guess what guys...

Adobe is launching the beta for the new Lioghtroom and you can jump on it right now.

I just watched a clip from Adam Lerner on youtube (Video below) and it does look good, there are some bits like Photo book creation more noise reduction & Location-based organization (If you have the GPS on/in the camera).

The 2 things that stand out to me is both a video editing sute as well as a White balance brush.

Anyways... I think I might try it out in the next few days but as I am already low on memory on this computer I might have to leave it for now. If you wish to jump on this beta you can use this LINK and please let me know what you think of it.

OnLive... ITS REALLY GOOD!

Gaming is about to change, FOREVER!
A while ago I did a blog about something that was going to change the face of gaming if it worked.

And today I tried it for the 1st time... And it really works!

OnLive is simple and very easy to work out system, you play games on your computer or lappy but the processing is done somewhere else. So all the hard work is handled on a far better computer then the one your sitting at!

As long as you have a net conaction of 3mbs or more, The lag is not even there. I used to be a massive PC gamer but with all the trouble of getting a good rig and having the latest card for this or that I just gave up. Consoles just work far better and much easier then using a PC!

With OnLive you are just streaming the content so you could play on a shitty little laptop and it still plays great. I just finished a demo of the new Batman game (and my computer is really not good enough to run that bad boy)

Now you can buy the micro console to plug into your telly (£69.99) or you can download the app for PC. for that price you get the wireless controller (witch works both on PC and the micro console) and all the wires HDMI lead. Plus it into the TV and the internet (wired but should have a WiFi verson out soon) and your good to go.

the games are at a good price, you can rent or buy the games, Also they have a "GamesPass" that give you about 150 games as well as discounts on newer or games not on the list. I belive thats a monthly fee but some of the games do look good on the list.

I might have to do some more tests but from my little computer and with my net connection Batman looked great, felt great and 30mins FREE DEMO was amazing! oh and you only buy a game once, no matter if it was on PC, console or even your iPad! Looks like Sony's new PSP (veter) is going to really suck from that!

Check this one out guys!
